Dialling up the Degrees in Napier
Dru, his partner John, and their dog Conrad live in a stunning 1935 art deco home in Napier. While the house had underfloor and ceiling insulation installed a decade ago, the walls were still uninsulated, leaving parts of the house freezing.
Having moved from the warm climate of Waiheke Island to Napier a year ago, their first winter came as a bit of a shock. “It’s really cold here!” says Dru. “We’ve got a fire and a heat pump, but it’s hard to keep the warmth in.
“The walls were basically hollow, so we knew we needed to get insulation installed. But, because the house is stucco, it would be impossible to put insulation panels in without ripping all the interior walls off – and that would obviously have been really expensive,” Dru explains.
After researching different options, Dru and John came across Insulmax®. “It was efficient, fast, and cost-effective,” Dru says. “Not only that but our local franchise is a small, family-owned business – and that’s important to us.”
Dramatic results
Dru says the results were not only immediate – but incredible. “We’ve gone from having a temperature of -1°C first thing in the morning to 20°C,” Dru says. “It was just insane. We were so amazed that when Wayne from Insulmax® came by to check, we literally hugged him!”
The insulation has also helped them make better use of their heating. “We don’t even use the heat pump anymore,” Dru shares. “Just putting the fire on at night keeps us warm, and the heat stays in the house. We’re not wasting any of our solar power on extra heating.”
Flawless service
Dru says he was blown away by the Insulmax® team's attention to detail. “They did an absolutely perfect job,” he says. “Wayne filled and painted the holes, and you’d never even know anything had been done. Our walls are stucco, so matching the texture isn’t easy, but it’s flawless. Even when I look closely, I can’t see where they drilled.”
Highly recommended
Dru and John have been spreading the word to their friends about how much of a difference Insulmax® has made.
“People were asking us about it, and we told them it’s been fantastic,” Dru says. He also reassured them about the long-term benefits. “Some people worry about insulation slumping over time, but Insulmax® doesn’t do that. Plus, it’s fire retardant, so we feel even safer.”
For Dru and John (and Conrad the dog), their once chilly art deco home is now warm and cosy – thanks to Insulmax®’s fast, efficient, and professional service.
